OUR HISTORY
OUR history of 100HECTARES wines begins in the early 1970s, when the Brás e Cigarro family – with an enormous passion for the Douro region – made major investments in the purchase and renovation of properties located in the Douro sub-region – Baixo Corgo .THE STORY The family farms are the origin of their wines, and production is made exclusively from grapes from their properties, something that is at the heart of the family's production philosophy.
For some time, the majority of production made from their vineyards was sold to competitors in the region, but, in 2009, André and Filipe Brás wanted to monetize their own production of raw material, vinifying an estimated 30% to 40% of grape. Some surplus production is given to producers in the region, and total production with the own brand is not yet possible.
The duty of passing on the legacy from generation to generation is a feeling rooted in the family.
Quinta Nossa Senhora da Conceição
Quinta Nossa Senhora da Conceição, located in the city of Peso da Régua, has an absolute and particular beauty due to its alignment that looks like a fingerprint – and was therefore chosen to be on the cover of the Douro World Heritage book. Its positioning in the Baixo Corgo region makes it privileged in the production of Douro and Port wines, enjoying conditions of excellence, such as unique microclimates and excellent sun exposure, capable of creating complex, intense and concentrated wines. As for whites (white grapes such as Viosinho, Fernão Pires, Cercial, Rabigado and Malvasia Fina), the climatic characteristics give these wines structure, elegance and longevity. For the reds, (Grapes of Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz, Sousão and Tinta Barroca), complexity is the imperative attribute.
Quinta da Marialva
In 1999, Quinta da Marialva was completely reconverted with the aim of ensuring continuity in the production of top premium grapes, scarce at that time, which the 100HECTARES brand needed. In its physiognomy is present the systematization in levels of 2 bards and in accentuated slopes, thought with the purpose of obtaining a greater homogeneity in the grapes. In this estate are present the most traditional varieties of the Douro, such as Touriga Nacional, Tinta Roriz, Sousão and Tinta Amarela, originating from the 100HECTARES Touriga Nacional wines, whose popularity does not belie their quality. These results are also due to the predominantly northern exposure and temperatures capable of reaching 45ºC in summer at altitudes ranging between 200 and 300 meters.
Quinta do Couraceiro
Quinta do Couraceiro is located in the freshness of Serra de São Domingos in the village of Valdigem, municipality of Lamego. Between 1998 and 2007, it went through a total reconversion process, with new vineyards being implemented, using mainly more traditional Douro varieties. In the case of white varieties such as Rabigado, Viosinho, Côdega do Larinho, Cercial, Fernão Pires, Folgasão and Malvasia Fina, they were planted at high altitudes, between 400 and 550 metres. The reds, such as Tinta Roriz, Touriga Franca and Tinta Barroca, were planted up to 400 meters. From these varieties, strategically well positioned, our wines are born 100HECTARES White, 100HECTARES Côdega do Larinho, 100HECTARES Colheita Red.
