Douro Porto Wine Festival

PARTNER | QUINTA DA BELA

Quinta da Bela is located in the middle of the Douro with a stunning landscape over the river and the city of Peso da Régua.

Its origins date back to the 18th century with a considerable size, belonging to the Pina de Morais family. After several generations and divisions in the family, Quinta da Bela reached the 19th century, in its current version, owned by Rosa da Silva and Francisco Pina de Morais.

The traditional Douro grape varieties have always dominated here: touriga nacional, pinta roriz, touriga franca and pinta baroca in the red varieties; and malvasia fina, rabigato, gouveio, arinto and viosinho in the white varieties. Initially, the farm vinified its entire production into fortified wine, to later be sold to exporting houses that purchased it in bulk. Afterwards, the grapes began to be delivered to the exporters’ cellars. With the updating of the winery, where tradition (granite presses and red wine treads) and technology are mixed, in 2012, the brand “Vinha d'Avó” was created, a name that aims to pay homage to D. Rosa da Silva, grandmother of the current owners, for the contribution she made to the Douro and the legacy she left to the family. Currently, Quinta da Bela, through the “Vinha d’Avó” brand, has the following wines in its portfolio and available:

DOC DOURO WHITE 2022;
DOC RED 2020;
DOC ROSÉ 2021;
WHITE RESERVE DOC 2022;
DOC RESERVA RED 2019.

With some medals already won, the last one being in the Contest of the association of Vinhateiros Municipalities (2023) in Reserva Tinto with a gold medal in the Douro Region, our future bet will be to return to the production of fortified wine, maintaining and increasing both our range wants our quality.

A reference to our winemaker Nuno Felgar, a friend and with much experience in the production of several wines from this region.
